The Testimony of the Qur’an

“The Qur’an teaches that the scriptures of the Jews and Christians have been changed”

The Qur’an says many good things about the scriptures of the Jews and Christians:

وَلْيَحْكُمْ أَهْلُ الإِنجِيلِ بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللّهُ فِيهِ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللّهُ فَأ ُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ
“You judge the people of the Gospel according to what Allah has sent down. Those who do not judge according to what Allah has sent down, these are the wrongdoers.” (Surah Maidah 5:47)

قُلْ يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَسْتُمْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ حَتَّىَ تُقِيمُواْ التَّوْرَاةَ وَالإِنجِيلَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَانًا وَكُفْرًا فَلاَ تَأْسَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ
“Say: ‘O People of the Scripture, you will have no sure footing unless you obey the Torah and the Gospel and that which has been revealed to you from your Lord.'” (Surah Maidah 5:68)

فَإِن كُنتَ فِي شَكٍّ مِّمَّا أَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ فَاسْأَلِ الَّذِينَ يَقْرَؤُونَ الْكِتَابَ مِن قَبْلِكَ لَقَدْ جَاءكَ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَلاَ تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُمْتَرِينَ
“And if you are in doubt about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who recited the Scripture before it. The truth has come to you from your Lord, so be not of those who are in doubt.” (Surah Yunus 10:94)

وَقَفَّيْنَا عَلَى آثَارِهِم بِعَيسَى ابْنِ مَرْ يَمَ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الإِنجِيلَ فِيهِ هُدًى وَنُورٌ وَمُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَهُدًى وَمَوْعِظَةً لِّلْمُتَّقِي
“And We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to walk in their footsteps, confirming the Torah that came before him. And We gave him the Gospel, in which is guidance and light, confirming the Torah that came before him, a warning and guidance for the righteous.” (Surah Maidah 5:46)

نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقا ً لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَأَنزَلَ التَّوْرَاةَ وَالإِنجِيلَ
“He has sent down to you the Book with the truth, confirming what was before it (literally what was “in their hands”, بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ) ; And He has sent down the Torah and the Injīl before it, as guidance for the people. And He has sent down the Discrimination.” (Surah Al-‘Imran 3:3)

لاَ تَبْدِيلَ لِكَلِمَاتِ اللّهِ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ
“For them there awaits good news in this world and the Hereafter. The words of Allah are not changed. That is the great success.” (Surah Yunus 10:64)
